Khedira ruled out for at least 2 weeks

October 26, 2012

Sami Khedira will be out injured for two weeks with a hamstring injury he picked up during Real Madrid's 1-2 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in Wednesday night.

Khedira had to leave the field of play in Dortmund after just 19 minutes when he suffered a relapse of the injury he picked up during Germany's 6-1 win over the Republic of Ireland in Dublin on 12 October.

Khedira will undergo further tests later today in order to assess the full extent of the injury but it seems unlikely that there is any lasting damage from the injury.

Khedira was substitued by Germany coach Joachim Löw at half-time in Dublin to prevent the injury from worsening, and the midfielder sat out training for a whole week before returning on Sunday, in preparation for the game with Dortmund.

Khedira will definitely miss Madrid's trip to Mallorca this weekend and the away game with Alcoyano in the Copa del Rey during the week, and could be out of Madrid's home game with Real Zaragoza on 3 November.

José Mourinho hopes he will be back in time for when Madrid host Dortmund on 7 November.
